Your child's feet will grow rapidly in size from the time they are born until they reach adult foot size. Their feet will reach adult foot size approximately between 16 and 18 years of age. This is variable and can change from child to child.
Frequent changes in the size of shoes and socks are necessary to make room for rapidly growing feet during childhood. Always make sure there is enough room in the front of the shoes( The toe Box). This is easily checked everytime you help your child put their shoes on, by squeezing the front of the shoe and ensuring there is approximately a thumbs nail space between the big toe and the front of the shoe.
It is important that shoes are lightweight and and not too flexible but support the heel and arch. Lace up shoes are preferred over slip-on and valcro shoes, as they hold the shoe on the foot more securley.
If in doubt visit your local Podiatrist for more information or help with choosing the right school shoes.
